Week Two - Adapting to Office Life

This week did not include any tours so Gideon and I mainly situated at High Holborn , as well as working from home . This work experience not only taught me how to manage time in a professional setting and at home , but also how to maintain professionality when working outside the office .

My second week mainly focused on completing the project , determining the quality of open source software ; however , the final step of the project required programming a piece of code that would go through the repositories spreadsheet and automatically send issues . So with guidance from David , Gideon and I programmed the peice of code . We both have basic knowledge on Python thanks to GCSE Computer Science , and independent programming , but we really expanded our knowledge via learning how Python is programmed when the database is a spreadsheet . Additionally , both the Excel spreadsheet and the Python programming showed me how boolean is used - whilst I was always aware of boolean logic , I never truly understood how it was implemented in programs .

Final Thoughts

Overall , this work experience was two unregrettable weeks of learning about office life , the UCL campus , alongside how Computer Science is applied .
